東京!

As usual, the final night of this trip to Japan has led to a hurly-burly freneticism: Sukiyaki that was insanely delicious, a long and fascinating interview with a purveyor of beef to Park Hyatt, a good conversation with the chef @ NY Grill @ Park Hyatt, a visit to Nuno, a three mile run, eggs and bacon, yakitori on the horizon, Shinji on the horizon, and…all on three hours of sleep!

My goodness.

The pleasant disorientation, dislocation, disjointed, disconnect leads to an opening of the mind to possibility: New ideas and possibilities come to the surface and habits submerge or dissipate in the confluence.  Believe me, I’m not the first writer from the West to appreciate the ways in which the social isolation in Japan creates a platform from which to observe, and then, ironically, pushes one inward.

No wonder sleep seems a distraction.

Ah: 東京!
