I hadn’t been to New Deal Fish in a couple of weeks as the tumult of May took up all my time so I was delighted to get there today. The glass display cases had abundance: A huge snapper, oysters, toro, Portuguese sardines, and ocean trout found their way into my order. That snapper was so lovely, and Isaiah cut up a half pound filet that was nice and thick.
But tonight it’ll be miso broth with duck breast, fresh black morels, cellophane noodles and asparagus.
All of this is much easier than the story of the Ethiopian boy adopted into a family, the thoughts of summer, which is about to burst on the scene, and all the troubles one can get into by not doing quite enough.
My goodness, where would we be without distractions?
