I’m back in Tokyo, haven’t been here since July, though Japan in December took place. Last night R took me to Hachibei, a first-rate basement yakitori place in Roppongi: http://bento.com/rev/0900.html.
Just about the best kawa–chicken skin–I’ve ever had: Crispy, sauced, great crust. And really first rate tsukune: minced chicken and bits of cartilage, sauced and perfectly charred.
Now the sky is lighting up with a view fourteen floors below of Hibaya Koan. Soon it will be time to board a train to Haneda and then a flight to Kyushu. Interviews await there.
がんばって!
